One of the main attractions of Armenia is the lake Sevan. Every year it attracts more and more tourists from around the world.

“The pearl of Armenia” Sevan is the largest freshwater lake in the Caucasus, located at the altitude of 1900m, in some places its depth reaches 100m. The lake is fed by 28 rivers and has only outflowing river-Hrazdan. In summer, the lake water warms up to 24 degrees. The famous delicacy trout can be found in Sevan lake.

Due to its scenic beauty and the peculiar microclimate created by the high-alpine air, Sevan has long become the recreation and tourism centre in Armenia. There are comfortable hotels, recreation areas, well-groomed and clean beaches, where you can not only sunbath but also play beach volleyball. The lovers of water tourism can surf, water ski and sail by catamaran. Recently, a ropeway have been opened near Sevan, giving you the opportunity to admire the mighty panorama of wonderful blue lake. Sevanavank monastery, made of IX century black tuff, is located on the shore of Sevan lake.
